Dear Parishioners,

Included with this bulletin is a copy of a flier which was distributed by the Archdiocese of Washington.  It reviews the following: What is reconciliation; how to make a good confession; examination of conscience; Rite of Reconciliation; Act of Contrition.  Please make a good confession as part of your preparation for Easter.

--- Rev. Christopher R. Armstrong

Fr. Schehr continues with The Psalms.  Please come.

The Easter Vigil is the summit of our liturgical seasons.  In prayer and song, in ritual and in silence, in Word and Sacrament, we learn what it means to be redeemed in Christ.  If you do nothing else for Lent, come to the Vigil on Holy Saturday at 8:45 PM.

I interviewed some of the seventh graders who are to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, March 15.  I was impressed by their faith and I am grateful to their parents and teachers for training them in the practice of the faith.

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY

This week may sound a bit like bragging but if you read on, you can see why it is hard to keep our pride inside.  An incomplete list of achievements since January of this year includes:

Our students have represented themselves, their parents, and St. Antoninus School well in academic competitions.  Ricky V. placed fourth in the entire city this year in the Spelling Bee.  He also recently qualified for state in the Geography Bee.  Tina S., Stacey R. and Patrick A. were our building champions in the Reader’s Digest Word Power Challenge and each one qualified for the state competition as well.  Our sixth grade Bible Bowl Team took first place at the Bible Bowl held at St. Ignatius.  The team consisted of Deacon Bob Schroeder as the sponsor, Christina S., Katherine R., Rachel S., Katarina G., Samantha R., and Sara S.

Our School is faced with the possibility of needing to add staff in kindergarten and fourth grade next year.  With many schools looking at ways to cut, close, or consolidate, looking at possible additional sections is a welcome logistical challenge.  While scoring in the top ten percent on the Terra Novas in Math and Reading when compared nationally, we still keep our Catholic identity through our sacramental preparations, reconciliation throughout the year, weekly Mass, daily religion classes, and prayer throughout the day.

I call this an incomplete list because we all know these achievements come from parent involvement, parishioner and pastor support, staff and faculty commitment and student effort.  Many of the big things that happen are a direct result of the many overlooked efforts of others.  I look forward to the many more great happenings before this year is over.

We would like to wish our third graders luck as they perform at the 17th Annual Archdiocesan Choral Festival on Wednesday, March 14th at Mount St. Joseph College. The performance features schools throughout Greater Cincinnati and all are invited to attend. The third graders will be performing between 11:30- 1:00.

St. Antoninus Fall Soccer and Football sign ups will be held on Sunday, April 1st, in the undercroft after 11:30 am Mass until 1:30 pm.  A parent must be present at soccer sign ups, as there is a release form that must be signed.  Questions? Call Soccer Coordinator:  Julie Leuthold call 347-7435. Football Coordinator:  Jeff James:  451-9199.

The St. Antoninus PTO Keeneland Bus Trip on Sunday April 22, 2007.  Cost of $45 per person includes:  transportation; reserved seat into Keeneland; racing program; box lunch; wine, beer, water, soft, drinks, and snacks on bus.  Call Lauri Sullivan @ 451-4142.
