MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL was offered for Irene Ratterman.  Please keep Irene and her family in your prayers.

THANK YOU to Stephen G. Schott, CPA

for advertising in our bulletin.

Dear Parishioners,

“See and I forget. Hear and I remember. Do and I understand”.  The Liturgies of Holy Week help us to do just that: understand.  They put into prayer and practice all that we have learned and experienced of our holy faith.  As St. Anthanasius put it: “This feast guides us through the trials we meet in this world”.    Once again I urge our parishioners to especially share in the Easter Vigil.  The Easter Vigil is the pinnacle of our liturgical life.  By it we come to understand more and more our dignity as Christians.  Please come.

If you have done nothing for Lent do at least this.

If you have done little for Lent do at least this.

If you have done a great deal for Lent, do this as one prayer more.

I am pleased to announce that seminarian, David Endres, will do his pastoral internship among us.  David begins internship in August.

By now you have noticed the installation of the windows.  I want to thank the Building & Grounds Commission, the Finance Council, the Parish Council, our Business Manager and a number of other volunteers who guided us through the window project to its completion.  If you would like to donate a window, please contact the parish as there are three left.  (We are asking for a $10,000 donation per window.)  Thanks to all of our generous donors for their help in completing this project.

The collection at the Holy Thursday Mass will provide needed funds for the charitable activities of our St. Antoninus Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Please be generous.

On Good Friday, our parish will take up the annual collection for the Holy Land.  Your financial contribution will support the works of the Catholic Community in the Middle East and to protect the Holy Places and Christian shrines. A collection envelope is included in your April packet.

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY

Dear Parishioners:

Good News!  We have added a third section of kindergarten for next fall.  This means class size for kindergarten is currently fewer than 20 students per class and eliminates our waiting list.  This is also a tribute to the good job that our current kindergarten teachers are doing.  We will also be adding a part time fourth grade teacher to reduce the class size in math, reading and religion.  If you know anyone who is considering Catholic school for their child, please let them know we still have room in most grades.

While recent news focusing on parish schools that are shrinking/closing, it is good to be expanding.  But even with the good news, we know that we must continue to look for more efficient ways to operate, while at the same time improving the quality of both our religious education and our academics.  Please continue to pray for our parish school and its success.

HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP

As we enter into this final week of Lent we contemplate the sufferings of Our Savior.  To do this, on Tuesday, we will view the video, “How Jesus Died: The Final 18 Hours”.  This actually presents the medical, forensic and historical facts of the crucifixion.  It brings us closer to what Jesus actually endured on the cross.  We will follow it with a short presentation with the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.

This will be a very important time for us in Holy Week.  In chapel, 7:30 PM, Tuesday.

COFFEE AND DONUTS will be served on Sunday, May 13

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Today’s news has much about ‘pictures’.  So what about the pictures?  When and where are we compelled to bear witness to God’s truth:  a unique child of God, a fellow member of our human family, lives in the womb…and through abortion this child is willfully killed and these parents wounded?  “The Christian is not to ‘be ashamed of testifying to our Lord’ (Jn 18:  37).  In situations that require witness to the faith, the Christian must profess it without equivocation…Witness is an act of justice that establishes the truth or makes it known.” (Cathechism of the Cath. Ch, Life in Christ:  The Eighth Commandment, 2464…).

In today’s life and death situations, where better to lovingly witness to God’s truth than 1.)  in ultra-sound images of life of the unborn child for her/his abortion-minded parents 2.) at the entrances of the benign-appearing death centers of Planned Parenthood and The Women’s Med Center+?  Surely a picture is still worth a thousand words.

Questions for our family consideration: Would the evils of Auschwitz, Dauchau and Buchenwald have been believed by the world without graphic photos of mass graves?  Would the evils of racism and segregation continue to be tolerated without the graphic photo of a lynching and news footage of dogs and fire hoses unleashed on school children?  If a community remains silent, what is the complicity of its members in the lies of evil?  Jesus Himself tells us “you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:  31-32) More next month!www.priestsforlife.org www.silentnomoreawareness.org www.abortionNO.org

God is good!
