THANK YOU to Tom Billow

for advertising in our bulletin.

Dear Parishioners,

The Solemnity of the Lord’s Body and Blood reminds us that Jesus is really, truly and substantially present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity under the appearance of bread and wine.  The Sacrament of the altar has sparked controversies, has waned by neglect and inspired great acts of heroism, even martyrdom.  That is why the Church urges such great care in the celebration of and reverence due to the Eucharist.

That is why the Bread which is broken and the Wine outpoured give rise to the Church’s great teaching on social justice.  In short, the Eucharist is the very source and summit of the whole Church, and of each individual Catholic.

I particularly want to recognize today all who serve at the altar.  It is a privilege to do so and I want to thank them for their faithful and thoughtful participation.

From Monday, June 11, to Thursday, June 14, the active priests of the Archdiocese will be on Convocation in Dublin, Ohio (just east of Columbus).  Please pray that we may be guided by the Holy Spirit in our deliberations.  Also, be sure to check the changes in the week day Mass schedule.

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY

Dear Parishioners,

Our challenge at St. Antoninus is continually to improve the quality of the education here.  But before we do this, we must look at data to find out the areas we need to improve.  Starting next year we will be administering the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test.  The test covers the areas of reading, language usage, math, and science.  It is taken on the computer so results are immediate.  The test will compare our students to the over one million other students who take the test across the nation.

Unlike the Terra Nova which is administered every other year, this test will be given in September, January, and May.  This allows the student, parents, and teacher to see growth throughout the year.  It will also break each subject down to show which areas of science, math, reading, and language usage are stronger than others.

This kind of data will let teachers see which areas of the curriculum are strengths and which areas need improvement.  This data will also help us pinpoint the areas a struggling student may need to focus on or high achieving students’ areas to work on before high school placement tests.

HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP

Are you still angry?  Are you resentful? Do you sigh to “get even”?  Does forgiveness seem impossible? Jesus tells us that if we want forgiveness we must forgive others.  Sometimes that does seem impossible.  On Tuesday, Diane Autenrieb will help us to see that forgiveness is easier to attain then we believe.  It is not a feeling and we can achieve it even in difficult circumstances.  Come to learn, in chapel at 7:30 PM.

Dear St. Antoninus Parishioners

I want to thank the entire parish for the beautiful celebration on Sunday May 27th. Thank you to everyone who assisted in some way with the Mass of Thanksgiving. Thank you for the wonderful reception that followed. Thank you for the many cards and gifts. Your generosity is deeply appreciated by my family and me. As I prepare to begin my assignment at St Charles in Kettering, Saint Antoninus parish will always be in my prayers.

Yours in Christ,

Father Ronald Haft

OUR TRAVELING CHALICE

The purpose of the Traveling Chalice is to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Now that I have been ordained a priest it is right to say that Almighty God has answered your prayers. However, the prayers must continue. Consider signing up for the Traveling Chalice and pray for vocations. All families young and old are encouraged to join in this universal prayer for vocations. This is also an opportunity for families to pray together in quiet. Your family could then conclude the time of prayer with a nice family meal. Thank you for all the prayers and support you have given me.

– Father Ron Haft
