THANK YOU to Dunhoft Roofing

for advertising in our bulletin.

Mass of Christian Burial was offered for Pearl Conte, Alden Irish and Howard Naberhaus.  Please keep them and their families in your prayers

Dear Parishioners,

God has rewarded our parish in many ways over many years.  Our growth and development can be seen:  in the number who come to Mass not only on Sundays but daily, who come to receive the other sacraments, especially Reconciliation;  in our ministries within the parish, for example, the Athletic Club, Bereavement Committee, and Parent Teachers’ Organization, to name only a  few;  in our parish school, parish religious education program and Adult Faith formation opportunities;  in the physical beauty of our parish plant but most of all in you, dear parishioners and fellow servants of the Lord Jesus.

God has rewarded our parish with a diligent parish staff and Finance Council who work to ensure the proper stewardship of the money which you entrust to us.  Yet, as with many other churches, we continue to be confronted with regular and increasing operating expenses:  salaries, benefits, maintenance and utilities.  In addition we want to be prepared for major capital improvements, those foreseen and those unexpected.  Because of your past generosity, I feel confident in making the following request.

After prayerful consideration and with the recommendation of our parish Finance Council, I am asking everyone again to consider a renewed commitment to the future of our parish through the stewardship of your treasure.  Good stewardship recognizes that all our gifts come from God and belong to Him.  Stewardship recognizes the providence of a loving Father, who gave us His only Son and who, together with His Son, pours out the Holy Spirit upon us each day.  As a consequence, we are called upon to be good stewards and managers of God’s gifts to us.

You and all other registered parishioners should have received a letter from me suggesting a detailed plan for your increased weekly offertory gift.  I ask you to give it prayerful and serious consideration.    No one will call or visit; you will do this in the privacy of your own home where God’s blessings are most evident.  I am asking you to do your best to respond to this.  The vigor of our parish depends on your generous response.

The stewardship report for Fiscal year 2006/2007 is included in this bulletin.

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY

Dear Parishioners,

This week we have our open house on Wednesday, September 12, at 7:00.  We will start in the church, then move to the school.  We would like to invite all parishioners to come and enjoy this open house even if they do not have students here at the school.  This would be a way for parishioners to hear about the great things that happen every day.

One of the exciting things we are doing this year is to work with Xavier University’s Initiative for Catholic Education.  This Initiative will focus on the improvement of math and science instruction.  Specifically it is designed for grades 6-8.  The two teachers who are participating will not only get hours of professional development throughout the year to incorporate new ideas, they will also be trained to bring ideas back to the faculty.

Please bear in mind, that unless we   continually look for ways to improve, we will become stagnant and start to decline.  As we discuss making improvements in our presentation, this does not mean that what we currently have is substandard.  Quite the opposite. The faculty at St. Antoninus is a group of professionals that continually looks for ways to improve.  This is evident in our test scores ranking in the top ten percent in the nation.

SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE on Wednesday, September 12.  The program will start in church at 7PM.  All are invited to attend.

THE ST. ANTONINUS PTO Vice President position is open. Anyone interested should call Maria Allen at 922-2493 or Joan Berning at 451-2427. This can be filled by 1 or 2 adults.
