NOVEMBER is traditionally devoted to the Poor Souls.  St. John Vianney gives at least one reason to pray for them.  “If it were but known how great is the power of the good souls in Purgatory with the Heart of God, and if we knew all the graces we can obtain through their intercession, they would not be so much forgotten.  We must therefore, pray much for them that they may pray much for us.”

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY

With Thanksgiving this Thursday, this seems to be the opportune time to say “Thank you”.  First, I would like to thank the faculty and staff of St. Antoninus School.  I wish everyone could see the things that our teachers do when nobody is looking.  This truly sets them apart from other places I have worked.  For those who have been beneficiaries of their extra actions, you know what I am talking about.

I would like to thank all the parishioners for their support of our school.  We could not do the things we do without you.  Thank you to the parish staff.  The work they do allows us to do the work we need to do.  Thanks to all of our parents who entrust their children to us.  Thanks to our students; not every faculty is blessed with students like ours.

Finally, thank you to Fr. Armstrong, Fr. Mick and all priests for following the call of the priesthood.  May their example inspire others to respond to their vocation.

PTO NURSING HOME VISIT is planned for Wednesday, December 12th, at noon.  Meet at the rectory garage.  Small children are welcome to attend.

We are asking for donations of gifts of $1.00 or more.  Items such as socks, lotion, lipstick, shaving cream, puzzles, Suduko, etc. are greatly appreciated.  Please wrap and label gifts “Gentleman” or “Lady”.  There will be a collection bin in the greeting room.

HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP

Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed a year dedicated to St. Paul, in celebration of the 2,000th anniversary of the apostle’s birth.  The year will begin on June 29, 2008.  In preparing for this special year, Liz Donovan will share her thoughts on the greetings and blessings that St. Paul gives in each of his Epistles.  She believes that there is great power and healing made available to us through these inspirational words.  Come and join us on Tuesday, 7:30 PM in the chapel.

ATHLETIC CLUB:   Girls Basketball sign-ups for 3rd grade thru high school by e-mail.  Send name, grade#, address, and phone number to tnussman@zoomtown.com or call 922-3662.

A NOTE FROM OUR SEMINARIAN INTERN,

MR. DAVID ENDRES

Thanksgiving might not be an official “feast” in the Catholic Church but it is one that we can happily celebrate as being in accord with our faith.  While it is a civil holiday, it can be an opportunity to recognize God as the source of all that is good – to thank God for all the blessings we enjoy today and throughout the year.  So this coming week when we are feasting on turkey, dressing, and pie we can be thankful for gifts of our families, friends, and our faith -- which gives meaning to the entirety of our lives. I am thankful for this parish community and all the kindness you have shown to me in my first months here.
