FROM OUR PASTOR I am grateful to the Pro-Life/Pro-Family Committee for supplying the flowers for all our mothers today. I am especially mindful of those who lost their mothers and are celebrating the day "alone", as it were, for the first time and trust that the Risen Lord will console them. I think of the excitement of my youngest sister and her husband who will adopt a second child soon, as the birth-mother chose not to have an abortion. I think of all those who have prayed and witnessed for the defense of life in the womb, and that the message continues to get through despite the stratagems of the devil. I think of the blessing prayer for mothers at the baptism of infants, and, for that matter, for all our mothers:" God...has brought joy to all Christian mothers as they see the hope of eternal life shine on their children." May all our mothers see their children with them in heaven. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! -- Rev. Christopher R. Armstrong

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY Dear Parishioners, This time of year flies by at school. If one blinks, it seems as if May is gone. We started May with our May Crowning ceremony. The students processed in for the 8:00AM Mass. Each student carried a flower for Mary. The crowning ceremony was held after Mass with the recitation of the Rosary and Marian songs. On May 2nd, over thirty St. Antoninus students ran the kids mile held downtown as part of the Flying Pig Marathon. For many of these students it was the final mile for their “incremental marathon” they ran over the course of two months. The following day was First Communion. It never ceases to amaze me how every student is assigned an active part in the Mass and how reverent our students are throughout the Mass. I have to remind myself these students are second graders. They act mature beyond their years during the Mass. All of this in just the first three days of May! As we head to the end of the school year, try not to blink.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY In the month of April, we provided assistance to the needy as follows: Food and Household ($440), Utilities ($802), and Rent ($475). This was possible because of the generosity of our parishioners through the Holy Thursday Collection ($777), the March 5th Sunday envelope ($1132), and use of the six Poor Boxes. Many thanks to all who made a contribution!
HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP For the past several weeks we’ve been teaching in greater depths about individual gifts of the Holy Spirit. This week our concentration will be on “tongues,” the prayer language. Fay Brinck’s teaching “Why Would I Want the Gift of Tongues” and her personal witness will be the topic. For some who are seeking the gift, there will be an opportunity to be prayed for later. It’s a very personal but exciting gift and simply requires openness to receive. Come and learn. In Chapel, Tuesday at 7:30PM.
