FROM OUR PASTOR

Tomorrow’s Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul marks the closing of the “Year of St. Paul” called for by our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.  Among other things, I am grateful to Deacon Schroeder and Father Endres who preached on the Letters of St. Paul throughout the year.  Those were recorded on CDs and are available in the parish library.  I am also grateful to Peg Delaney and all the parish musicians who chose songs inspired by the Pauline Letters.  The following taken from a treatise on Christian Perfection by St. Gregory of Nyssa, seems to sum up the Year of St. Paul very well:

“No one has known Christ better than Paul, nor surpassed him in the careful example he gave of what anyone should be who bears Christ’s name.  So precisely did he mirror his Master that he became his very image. By a painstaking imitation, he was transformed into his model and it seemed to be no longer Paul who lived and spoke, but Christ Himself.  He shows his keen awareness of this grace when he refers to the Corinthians’ desire for proof that Christ was speaking in him; as he says:   ‘It is no longer I who live: it is Christ who lives in me’”.

Today's reading from St. Paul explains the "divine economy" of stewardship - "The relief of others ought not to impoverish you; there should be a certain equality. Your plenty at the present time should supply their need so that their surplus may in turn one day supply your need." See 2 Corinthians 8:13-14 Are there some talents of which I have plenty that I could share with others? What volunteer organization might benefit from my talents?

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY

Dear Parishioners,

Starting Wednesday, July 1, the school office will be closed for the month of July.  This allows for maintenance and cleaning crews to get ready for the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year and for the office faculty and staff to spend time with family.

As this is my last article until August, I want to thank all the volunteers who gave of their time and talent this year.  Without our volunteers, we could not offer the number of opportunities to our students.  I would also like to thank our staff and faculty for all that they have done.  One would be hard pressed to find a more dedicated group of professionals.  Finally, thank you to all the parishioners who support us with their prayers.  St. Antoninus School will do great things if we all pray for the school’s success.  May God bless us all this summer.

HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP

Did you ever wonder what it would be like to have been seated on the mountainside as Christ spoke to the crowd His beatitudes? At this year’s Bible Institute there will be a one-day program that focuses on these simple but profound words of Jesus. They are at the very heart of discipleship.   Next Tuesday we will get a head start on the Bible Institute by beginning the series of four teachings on this topic. Kay Schmidl will offer the first one entitled “Poor Thing: Joy in the Midst of Affliction.” Come and hear the radical words of Christ, who speaks to us in the midst of our difficulties. In Chapel, 7:30PM.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

A seventh grade student, concerned that he may be a father, told me, “Honestly I wouldn’t do anything until she said she was ready.”  This sad phrase is taken directly from the marketing propaganda paid for and coined by Planned Parenthood (PP) for the classrooms of America.  “Most teen abortions start when Planned Parenthood walks into a classroom.”(American Life League www.ALL.org)

Advocates of the abortion industry, these sellers of sexual promiscuity met last month at Miami University (Oxford OH) under the guise of promoting tax-funded “sex-ed” in the classroom.  PP knows that most children, just like that young boy, think that if it’s taught in school it must be true.  So PP promotes a stomach-turning “sex-ed” called It’s Perfectly Normal and its predecessor Reducing the Risk (where immoral acts are their recommended forms of ‘abstinence’).  Marriage, the love of wife and husband and God’s beautiful gift of sexuality are missing. Using pornography and graphic language PP’s programs teach children as young as PreK that anything sexual is perfectly normal – even PP’s $pecialty, abortion (over $114,000,000/yr in profits).  Thus, countless teens and pre-teens are then losing their sexual innocence in the classroom and many will later follow with a visit to Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility to lose their preborn babies and to live wounded lives. As the largest abortion chain, PP kills over 250,000 preborn children a year.

Always with prayer, join the full-scale national effort to close down PP using 3 key objectives:  1. Eliminate all tax-funding…free tax $ is 33% of PP budget.  Stop the free $$ and PP will collapse.  2. Volunteer through national grassroots crusade (www.ALL.org) to end PP’s ruthless humanist assault on the hearts, minds and souls of our children 3.  Expand on-site volunteer programs to pray, witness and  pressure local businesses, churches, politicians and media “To Save Our Children and Keep Planned Parenthood Away” from them and out of our communities…learn more/get our yard sign www.ProtectCincinnati.org 513-588-0148. With courage, prayer for right judgment, let’s do the right thing! Our children are depending on us. God is good!
