Remember St. Antoninus in your will.

The readings today speak of the end of the world and the coming of the kingdom. The bishops’ pastoral on stewardship says clearly that “that ‘life to come’ is in continuity with this present life through the human goods, the worthy human purposes, which people foster now.” May our good stewardship help us to be numbered among the chosen on the last day!

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL – JACK COREY

Dear Parishioners,

A few weeks ago I heard Matthew Kelly address a group of Catholic educators. He challenged us to be more Catholic in the way we address our students. A week later when I had an opportunity to speak with both the sixth and eighth grades about their future, I found something interesting.

It was a rare exception if a student had not been asked what he or she wanted to do with his or her life. It was equally rare for a student to have been asked what God wants for him or her to do. As a parent, I too fall into the trap of asking my own children what they want to do with their lives. It is truly rare when I ask what they think God wants them to do.

If God creates us for a specific purpose, and wants us to be happy, following His plan for us would lead to the most fulfilling life we could possibly have. So why do we as parents ask our students what they want to be? Why not reframe the question and ask what they think God wants them to be? This will leave the door open for them to talk to God and hopefully listen.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

Plan now to attend the Thanksgiving Day Mass at 8 AM on Thursday, November 26. At the Offertory you will be invited to bring forward your gift of food or cash. Both are sorely needed at this time. The food will be delivered to the food bank at the SVdP headquarters on Bank Street. The recommended food list includes: canned vegetables, soup, pasta, dried beans or rice, tuna, macaroni and cheese, and brownie or cake mix. Blue SVdP bags for your food contribution can be found in the Greeting Room. Please take one, fill it, and bring it to the Mass.

Weekly Neighborhood Rosary Groups for Life would meet to pray the rosary together. If you are able to participate, or want info call Dave Willig 451-6192, or Joanie Loebker 922-0348.

HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP

Discernment is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that is so needed in our present culture. Every day, we face many problems, trials and questions in decision-making for our lives. The Lord wishes to direct us in our choices through Godly discernment. On Tuesday evening Mary Handermann will teach about this spiritual gift in her talk, “Identifying Obstacles to Discernment”. Come to hear the way the Lord meets our every need in a generous way. In Chapel, 7:30PM.
