Cub Scout Pack 614

Pinewood Derby

The annual St. Antoninus Cub Scout Pack 614 Pinewood Derby was held on Friday, March 16, 2007.  This year's event featured the unveiling of an all new, high-tech, 4-lane race track.  The new race setup allowed for video of the finish line and statistics of each heat to be broadcast on large screens, so each of the participants were able to track the speed and finish position of their cars.  Setting a new course record of over 200mph, this year's overall winner was Justin K.

The scouts salute the flag during opening ceremonies. The new track is unveiled for the first time.

Doug Jaeger explains the NASA-inspired technology behind the new track.

The scouts intently watch their cars all the way to the finish line.

MC Brian Hellmann once again provided colorful racing commentary and tales of past Pinewood Derbies.

The name of each participant, starting position and speed are displayed for each heat. The brains behind the high-tech racing system.

Some of this year's winners and their trophies.

The cars are displayed for the "Best Design" voting prior to racing.

Congratulations to all the entrants in the 2007 Pinewood Derby!

See you at next year's Pinewood Derby!
