First Grade in Action |
|
We have lots of fun on the playground with friends.
We even meet new friends there too! |
When the weather is bad we have fun with friends indoors. |

Lunchtime is great too!
Every Friday we can order hot lunch from
a different restaurant. YUM! |
|
|
|
|
It is fun to have an 8th grade BIG SIB.
We do lots of things together with our sibs all year. |
|
|

|
At the beginning of the year we have a get-acquainted day. It is so much
fun! |
|

 |
|
We celebrate the feast of Guardian Angels with our Big Sibs at
a prayer service in church. We receive a Guardian Angel medal
to wear. We learn that our angels watch over us every day.
|
|

|
Deacon Schroeder takes us to the sacristy in Church to show us
many things there.
|
We all get a turn to be V.I.P. or Extra Special Person and tell
our class all about us. |
|
|
|
|
Grandparents Day is great fun ! Our grandmas and grandpas and
other special people in our family get to come to school for a
day. We go to Mass together, share a snack, and walk around
our school and see what I do every day.
Our favorite part is when they come to our classroom.

|
Going to the computer lab to learn all about the computers is
one of our favorite things to do. |
We wait for our turn to take Arthur home for a weekend and write
about what we did when he visited with our family.

|
|
|
For Halloween fun we have LOTS OF LAUGHS DAY!
Everyone brings something to wear that will make us all laugh! |
|
|
|
|
|
We have special Art fun when our parent Art Volunteers come once
a month to teach us about a particular artist.
|
Music class with Ms. Delaney, our Music teacher, is great
singing fun. |
|
|
|
|
We go to Gym class every week with our Physical Education
teacher, Mr. Lutz. WOW! We have to take a break after all
that exercise! |
We love going to our library to have Ms. Ruther, our
librarian, read to us. We even get to take home some of our
favorite books every week. |
|
|
|
|
Christmas is special in 1st grade. We paint big
Christmas trees to hang in our hall. Our room moms plan a party
for us too. |
We make Baby Jesus’ bed soft for Christmas by adding a piece of
hay each time we do a good deed. |
|
|
|
 |
|
We decorate our own special Christmas trees with our BIG SIBS.
Santa even stops by to see us. |
|
 |
|
|
At Christmas we are in the Christmas Concert. We have lots of
fun being on stage. We sing special songs for everyone to help
them celebrate Jesus’ Birthday in a special way.
|
|
|
|
|
As part of our Christmas Concert we have a service project we do
to help others. This year we collected personal care items to
share with families who go to the Holy Family Pantry in Price
Hill. |
We
dress as shepherds and have a Las Posada celebration with our
Big Sibs. |
|

|
The Everybody Counts Program teaches us about people who have
disabilities. We learn many things about people with visual
impairments. |
|
 |
 |
|
On Valentine’s Day we deliver valentines to everyone in our
classroom. We make a special one for our family too. |
|
|
|
|
Our pastor, Father Armstrong, comes to our classrooms to share
special things about Jesus. |
Our friend from the Public Library comes to share books with us
each month. |
|
|
|
 |
|
We have a “Reading is Fun Day” with our big sibs. We read to
them and they read to us. |
|
|
|
|
Other
events that are a part of first grade fun are several of the “
All-school” events.
Our
favorites are Jog-a-thon and Olympic Day.
Jog-a-thon
is a special time when we get exercise and help raise money
for our school.
Olympic
Day is a day when the entire school goes to Schott Field for
lots of exercise and fun.
