1.         ST. A SKATING PARTIES.  The next party is scheduled for March 17, 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Western Rollarama.  The cost is $4.50 and includes skate rental.  All skaters in attendance will receive a free glow stick!  For the April 21 party there will be a homeroom attendance competition -- the winning HR gets a special delivery of homemade chocolate chip cookies.  Remember the parties are always held on the 3rd Monday of each month during the school year.  See you then!

 

2.         EDUCATION COMMISSION.  Meeting will be held on Monday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the school conference room.  Visitors are always welcome.  If visitors wish to speak, they should contact Maggie Pater a week prior to the meeting to be included in the agenda.  Contact Maggie at 922-2735 or at maggiepater@yahoo.com.

 

3.         ELDERS SCHOLARS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.  If you are going to be in 8th grade next year at the parish school, you are eligible to compete for an ESAP Scholarship.  ESAP, formerly EDSAP, is the Elder Scholars Assistance Program – a privately-funded grant program administrated by Elder High School.  One 7th grade girl and one 7th grade boy will be chosen from our school.  Applications are available on the Elder website: www.elderhs.org.  Once there, click “Parents” on the top banner and then on the Parents page, click “EDSAP” on the left side.  Scholarship applications are due May 1, 2008.  ESAP financial aid awards are available to families with students entering the 5th-8th grade at the parish school next year.  Applications available April 1 on Elder’s website.  See www.elderhs.org for more details or contact Maureen Regan at Elder at 921-3744 ext. 3423.

 

4.         CUB SCOUT ANNUAL PINEWOOD DERBY – Friday, March 14, 7 p.m. in the St Antoninus Gym.  See the latest top secret Pinewood Derby car designs and what the inspired Cub Scouts and adult assistants have created this year!  Top three cars advance to the District Finals to defend last year's champion from our parish at St Catherine's:  Saturday, March 15 – Noon Race 10 a.m. sign-ups Pinewood workshop #2:  Monday, March 3,  6-8 PM in the Scout room for our scouts and adults helping them.  Scout leaders and parents bring tools and tips to help finish the car with over 25 years experience.. Final weigh-ins are Wednesday, March 12, 6-8, Scout room.  Contact Frank Ellert or Joe Nolan for more info. on the Derby or how to join our pack!

 

5.         YEARBOOK PICTURES.  We need your help!!  To make sure we have covered all the school activities so far this year, please send any pictures you may have taken to Carol Hartfiel on a CD marked “yearbook pictures” or as an attachment to thestayearbook@yahoo.com.  We can only accept pictures of school-sponsored functions and in digital form.  If you have any questions, please e-mail the yearbook staff at the above e-mail address.  Thanks for your help!!

 

6.         MUSIC NEWS.  The West Side Music Club presents the 2008 Achievement Awards Auditions on Saturday, March 29, 2008.  The purpose of this competition is to offer an incentive to young musicians to continue their musical education in percussion, brass, strings, woodwinds, piano or voice.  This audition is open to students in the 8th and 9th grades.  Interested students should contact Mrs. Milano for entry forms or more information.

 

7.         SAINT ANTONINUS BOY SCOUT TROOP 614 - LENTEN FISH FRY.  Please come!  Free yourself from cooking and socialize with your fellow parishioners beginning on Ash Wednesday and every Friday in Lent.  Dinner is served between 5-7 p.m. in the Undercroft.  Menu includes fish sandwiches, grilled salmon, pizza, fries, macaroni and cheese, desserts and more.  New item this year is baked potatoes.  Dine-In and Carryout options are both available.

 

8.         TOY AND CLOTHING SALE.  Sellers needed for the St. Antoninus Girl Scout Toy and Clothing Sale, Saturday, April 5, 2008, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Church Undercroft.  Sellers should register by contacting Mariellen Rechtin, 467-1616 or trechtin@fuse.net.  The following items may be sold at the sale:  baby/child/teen clothing, school uniforms, maternity clothing, baby equipment (strollers, car seats, etc.), toys, children’s videos and books, parenting books.  More information can be found on a link from the Church web site, www.saintantoninus.org.  Sellers receive 60% of what is sold.

 

9.         ATTENTION EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS.  We would like to collect pictures from all your years at St A. for your graduation breakfast.  Please send any pictures you would like to share to school, marked with your name and phone # so we can return them to you.  And remember to take lots of pictures during this year so we can include them also.  We are looking for all kinds of events:  scouts, sports, school events, etc.  Send them in an envelope marked "8th grade pictures - Attention Diane Martini” through the school office or you can e-mail them to me at rmartini2@cinci.rr.com.  We will be collecting them all year.  Thank you in advance for helping.  Questions?  Contact Diane Martini at 922-0963.
