The School Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, at 7
p.m. We will begin in the Church.

PTO
COOKOUT CELEBRATION THURSDAY.
We want to say ''THANK YOU" for your support of the Magazine Drive. PTO
is buying lunch for all students. Free, hot-off-the-grill lunch
consists of hamburger or cheeseburger, chips and a Ho Ho. Drinks will
be sold by the 7th grade, pop: 75¢/can and Huggs: 25¢/bottle. We will
see you this Thursday!

PICTURE
DAY IS THURSDAY!
Thursday, September 13, is picture day. Picture day is traditionally an
out-of-uniform day. Please make sure that the following out-of-uniform
guidelines are followed: “At
no time should there be bare midriffs; i.e. low-cut pants or skirts, or
short cut shirts. Shirts and pants must be styled and worn so that they
do not allow for the exposure of any part of the under garments.
Shoulders must be covered (no tank tops or spaghetti straps) and shirts
cannot have a deep neckline. T-shirts cannot display graphics or
wording that refers to alcohol, drugs, violence, or sex. All clothing
must be clean and in good repair. For safety reasons, shoes may not be
open-backed (no flip-flops or clogs).”

SCHOOL
DIERCTORY UPDATE REMINDER.
We are in the process of updating and taking orders for the School
Directory. Please look for the flyer including order form in the White
Envelope and return information/order form and $$ in an envelope marked
"SCHOOL DIRECTORY" by Friday, 9/14. If you have any questions,

5. YEARBOOKS
ARE IN !!
The 2006-2007 Yearbooks are in, and the cover of the self-portraits of
the children turned out great!! It also includes a nice color double
page of the eighth grade. They will be distributed through your
children this week. We have a limited supply of extras for sale. They
will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis for $20, check made
payable to "St. Antoninus School" or cash. Please mark "2006-2007
Yearbook” on the envelope. Don't miss out on preserving your child's
memories. We will not have an official autograph day, however, if the
kids would like to get them signed, please tell them to do this during
playground. Thanks to Kevin Anneken, Lisa Pennekamp, Janet Cunningham,
Carrie Naber, and Mrs. Hartfiel for their countless hours in putting
this school year memory book together. Also, thanks to Nancy Fishburn
and the other parents who turned in pictures throughout the year. If
anyone is interested in being on the yearbook staff this year, please

6.
MUSIC
NEWS.
This school year we will again have the “Shining Star” award in music
class. This award goes to a student who shows shining work. The student
will receive a small prize and have their name in the newsletter. There
will be a new student chosen each week to be in the spotlight. This
week’s “Shining Star” award goes to… Alyse P. Alyse is a fifth grader
in Mrs. Lipps’ homeroom. Alyse’s favorite song is “Everyday” and
favorite singer is Ashley Tisdale. Her favorite movie is “A Night at
the Museum.” Alyse began dance class when she was five years old.
Great job Alyse!
7.
STUDENT
CHOIR.
St. Antoninus School is again organizing a student choir to sing at the
Friday All-School Mass. The choir is open to students in grades 5-8.
The choir may also have the opportunity to sing at Sunday Mass with
older students. Practices are every Thursday at 11:00 in Mrs. Lally’s
office in church. Interested students are asked to see Mrs. Lally or
Mrs. Milano for more information.

ATTENTION
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS.
Open gyms for 5th grade through 8th grade will be on Sundays, September
23rd and September 30th, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. All welcome but not
mandatory. Tryouts for only girls wanting to play on A and B1 teams
will be October 6th and 7th. 5th and 6th graders from
6:30-7:30pm both days. 7th and 8th graders will go at
5:00-6:00pm both days. Please wear a t-shirt that has your last name on
the back. If you do not want to play on A or B1 teams you do not have to
come to tryouts. We will put you on a team and a coach will call. Any

Coaches are still needed.

BASEBALL
TRY OUTS.
Try
outs for boys class A,B,C, & D will be held Sunday, September 16th,
from 5-8pm at Schott Field. For further information, contact Howard

10. BOYS
BASKETBALL SIGN UPS.
Sign-ups for boys basketball will be conducted via email. Please send
the name, address, grade, birth date and phone number of interested boys
to either Shawn Harp at HARPSHAWN@aol.com or Scott Sportsman at
scottsportsman@fuse.net. Boys basketball is open to boys in grades 3 - 8
and high school students who are members of the parish. The deadline is
September 21st.
11. FRIDAY
POP SALES. We
will again be selling pop, water and hug juices for the Friday hot
lunches. However, with the increasing cost of pop, we will be raising
the price of the pop to 75¢ cents a can. Hug juices will stay at 25¢
cents. We thank you for your continued support of this fundraiser.
12. BIRTHDAY
BOOK CLUB.
The library wishes to thank all those who contributed to the Saint
Antoninus Birthday Book Club last year. We were able to add more than
100 books to our collection. We hope that in 2007-2008 parents and
students will continue to support the Birthday Book Club. See the
enclosed flyer for details.
13. BAPTISM
ANNIVERSARIES.
During the morning
announcements, instead of calling students up on their birthdays, we
will be announcing Baptismal Anniversaries. This commemorates the
student’s birth into the Catholic Church. Feel free to send goodies on
this day as you would a birthday or celebrate this day as you would a
birthday in your own home.
14. SPIRITWEAR
NEWS.
Please complete the enclosed survey in order to voice your ideas and
opinions which will help the Spiritwear Committee serve you better.
Again, you are welcome to send payment for gym uniforms to the school
office in an envelope marked “Spiritwear”. All pre-paid orders will be
filled first and sent home with your child, when the items become
available. REMINDER: The Spiritwear Room will be open from 8:00-9:00
p.m. during Open House on Wed., Sept. 12th. It will not be open on
Fri., Sept. 14th. Thanks!

16. MAGAZINE
DRIVE REMINDER.
Reminder -If students turned in 6 or more total orders by Thursday of
last week they may be out of uniform on Turn in Days #3 (Tuesday) and #4
(Wednesday). If students turn in 6 subscriptions by Turn in Day #3,
they may be out of uniform on Turn in Day #4 only. Students need to wear
or have on backpacks the out of uniform orange wrist bands. If
students turn in 6 subscriptions on Turn in Day #4, they may be out of
uniform on Day #4 only-they will not have an orange wrist band for that
day. Our School out of uniform policy will be enforced. Any questions

17. EDUCATION
COMMISSION NEWS.
The Education
Commission is the parish group that advises the Pastor and Principal on
policies pertaining to all education programs throughout the parish. In
addition to Fr. Christopher Armstrong and Mr. Jack Corey the Commission
includes the Director of Religious Education, Deacon Bob Schroeder, and
six adult parishioners elected to three-year terms by the parish at
large. For the 2007-08 school year, the elected are: Maggie Pater,
President; Julie Scott, Vice-President; Beth D’Amico, Secretary; Mollie
DiGiacomo, Parish Counsel Representative; Amy Domenicone, PTO
Representative and Marty Ludwig, Publicity. Meetings are announced in
the Sunday bulletins and in the school’s weekly newsletter. Visitors
are always welcome to attend. Any item for the agenda must be submitted
at least ten days in advance of a meeting to Father Armstrong, Mr. Corey
or Maggie Pater. For more information call Maggie at 922-2735 or email

7:30 pm in the school’s conference room.

TOPS FOR EDUCATION SUMMER CONTEST.
Hope you have been saving Box Tops for Education Coupons throughout the
summer. Just tape or paste collected Box Tops on the form enclosed in
this white envelope and then turn in your completed sheet by 9/30/07
to the school office. Each completed sheet is worth $2 for St.
Antoninus PTO. The family turning in the most will receive a $50 Kroger
Gift Card. Also, there will be a random drawing for a winner of a big
basket of Box Tops for Education products worth over $40. Get your kids
involved !! The more sheets turned in, the more opportunity to win the
basket and the most collected. If you need more sheets, please copy

19. RECYCLED
UNIFORM SALE.
Donations are now being accepted for any outgrown uniforms. Skirts,
jumpers, school sweatshirts (navy only), gym clothes and spirit items
are the most popular. Please consider donating these items. Items will
be sold for $1-$5. This is a great service for our school families as
well as a way to find a place for an outgrown uniform. The sale date

YEAR’S EVE DANCE:
Mark your calendars for December 31 and make plans to attend the St.
Antoninus PTO sponsored New Year’s Eve Dance. Back by popular demand,
your PTO is again sponsoring this fun filled evening to celebrate 2007
and bring in 2008 with family and friends. More details to follow.
