1.         BOX TOPS SUMMER CONTEST WINNERS!!  Congratulations to the Heisel Family for turning in $43.80 of box tops during the summer contest and to the Hegman Family for winning the random drawing of the Box Tops Gift Basket worth $40 in box tops products.  Also, sincere thanks to the families (see enclosed letter) who participated in this contest.  We made $872.30 for St. A. PTO!!  110 families participated, so we have about 250 more families left to participate.  Please start clipping those box tops for the Fall/Winter contest!!  Our goal is to make $2,000 this year.  A collection sheet was sent home in last week’s white envelope.  If you need more sheets, please copy the form, go to the St. A website, or e-mail your request to Cathy Neville at staboxtops@yahoo.com.

 

2.         MARKET DAY.  So many thanks to all of the many customers from our October sale.  I am so happy to report that we made our goals and the school has earned $400 in books. I would like to remind everyone who purchased that pick-up time will be THIS TUESDAY, October 9, from 7-8 p.m. in the school lunchroom.  I can't wait to see you there.  Thank You, Jenee Ferguson.

 

3.         HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS.  Come one and all!   It is time again for the annual Halloween Happenings!   Thursday, October 25, from 6-8 p.m. in the Undercroft.   Look for the flyer in the white envelope.   Advance reservations $3; Pay at the door $5.  Dress up in costume and bring a bag to collect your treats and prizes!   Appropriate for all kids ages 3-9 years.  Any questions, please call Diane Martini, 922-0963, or e-mail rmartini2@cinci.rr.com.

 

4.         SPIRITWEAR NEWS.  Gym uniform shorts have arrived!  The cinch sacks are also in stock.  For your convenience, the Spiritwear room will be open on Wednesday, October 10, after school, and Monday, October 15, before school.  Please see enclosed flyer for survey results.

 

5.         HEY KIDS…LET’S ROLL!   The first St. Antoninus Skating Party of this school year is Monday, October 15, 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Western Rollarama.  The cost is $4.50 and includes skate rental.  Everyone in attendance receives a free freeze pop.  FYI – all skating parties are held on the third Monday of each month through May.  Any questions contact Marybeth McIntyre, 451-9145.  Questions?  Please call Mary Nie, 451-4490, or Jenny Allison, 251-4490.

 

6.         MUSIC NEWS.  This week’s Shining Star Award goes to … Jennifer B.  Jennifer is a Kindergartner in     Mrs. Schwab’s homeroom.  Jennifer’s favorite song is “Everyday” and favorite movie is “High School Musical 2.” Jennifer’s favorite singer is Ashley Tisdale.  Jennifer takes ballet and tap at dance class every week.  She would also like to learn how to play the piano.  Great job Jennifer!

 

7.         BOYS BASKETBALL STACK TRYOUTS.  Tryout for boys basketball stack team will be held October 7th and 14th.  For October 7th, the 5th grade tryouts will start at 1:00, the 6th grade tryouts will start at 2:30, and 8th grade tryouts will start at 4:00.  Times for the October 14th sessions will be:  8th grade tryouts at 4:00, 6th grade tryouts at 5:00, and 5th grade tryouts will start at 6:00.  There will not be a 7th grade stack team this year.  Boys must attend at least one tryout to be considered for a stack team

 

8.         4th GRADE VOLLEYBALL.  Open gym will be Wednesday, October 10, from 2:30-3:45.   Players will be divided up into teams at this time.

 

9.         VOLLEYBALL COACHES CLINIC.  Wednesday, October 10, from 4:00-5:00 at St. Antoninus gym.  Kerry Butkovich, Seton's varsity volleyball coach will go through drills and basics of volleyball.   All players, coaches and parents are welcome and encouraged to come!.

 

10.       BOYS VOLLEYBALL COACHES FROM LAST YEAR.  We are missing volleyballs from last season.  If you have not turned your volleyballs in, please call Mary Nie immediately 451-4490.

 

11.       GELDER YOUTH WRESTLING SIGN UPS.  Registration for the Elder kids and junior high wrestling team will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, in the Elder High School wrestling gym.  The programs are intended for grades 2 through 8.  For more information, call Jake Noble at 922-2534 for the junior high team or Ken Lambers at 276-3980 for the kids’ team.

 

12.       EIGHTH GRADE BAGGERS AT BIGGS.  Our St. Antoninus 8th graders will be bagging groceries at the Crookshank Biggs on Friday, October 19, from 5-7pm!  Please give them your support.   Money raised is for the Washington Trip.  Note -- this is not a school sponsored event.

 

13.       EIGHTH GRADE FUNDRAISER.  Help support the Yankee Candle Fundraiser for the 8th grade Washington trip.  Please contact any eighth grader or Debbie Dine @ 347-9028 or ddine1227@fuse.net for ordering now through October 19th. Yankee Candles make great Christmas gifts!  This is not a school sponsored trip, but a parent sponsored trip and fundraiser.  Thank you for your support.

 

14.       ATTENTION 8TH GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS.  We would like to collect pictures from all your years at St A. for your graduation breakfast.   Please send any pictures you would like to share to school, marked with your name and phone # so we can return them to you.  And remember to take lots of pictures during this year so we can include them also.  We are looking for all kinds of events:  scouts, sports, school events, etc.  Send them in an envelope marked "8th grade pictures - Attention Diane Martini" through the school office or you can e-mail them to me at rmartini2@cinci.rr.com.  We will be collecting them all year.  Thank you in advance for helping.    Questions?  Contact Diane Martini at 922-0963.

 

15.       6th GRADE GIRL SCOUTS TOY AND CLOTHING SALE.  Mark this date: Saturday, April 5, 2008!  Are you cleaning out your closet?  Would you like to make some money selling your gently used children’s clothes, maternity clothes, toys, children’s books/videos, or baby equipment?  Plan on being a seller at our sale.  Sellers can be individuals (outside or inside of parish) or scout troops/dens.  More information will be forthcoming, or call Mariellen Rechtin, 467-1616, e-mail trechtin@fuse.net.

 

16.       MT. AIRY FOREST FESTIVAL.  Saturday, October 13, 2007, Mt. Airy Forest, Oak Ridge Lodge, 9-5 p.m.  Festivities include a Lumberjack Show, Vendors, Arts and Crafts, Boy & Girl Scouts, Nature Education Activities, Tree Rescue Demonstrations, Concessions, Trail Tours, Musical Entertainment, Petting Zoo, and much, much more.  Celebrate Fall with the Cincinnati Park Board!.
