FROM OUR PASTOR
The following is an expression of gratitude for the entire wonderful
thing that has occurred in parish over the past few weeks. I am
grateful to the Worship Commission for organizing the Communal Anointing
of the Sick. That also gives me the occasion to remind you to ask for
the Sacrament of the Sick when you need it. Fr. Mick and I are happy to
confer it and many people have found it convenient to schedule it before
or after one of the week-day or Sunday Masses. I am grateful to the
Building and Grounds Committee for their hard work in spreading the
mulch around the parish grounds in preparation for First Communion.
Another committee organized the May Crowning for our parish school.
This week we said good-by to Peggy James and hello to our new business
manager, Chuck Merk. I am grateful to Peggy for all the hard work she
did in organizing the parish business office and I look forward to
working with Chuck in the future. Both the Parish and Finance Council
meet this week. I am always grateful for their wise counsel. My
gratitude list could go on. But all of the above is a reminder that St.
Antoninus is a great place to grow in the Lord! -- Rev. Christopher R. Armstrong |

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MR. JACK COREY Dear Parishioners, I wonder how many of us have caught ourselves sounding exactly like our own parents. Even if, as teenagers, we promised we would never become just like our parents, somehow when we talk to our children, we hear our own parents’ voices. “Repetition is the mother of all learning,” as the saying goes. As we grow up, we see our parents’ mannerisms and hear their anecdotes over and over again. It is natural for us to pick them up. This holds true for our faith. If our children see us going to Mass every Sunday, going to regular confession, and properly receiving Holy Eucharist, then chances are greater that when they become parents, they will do the same. For those parents lucky enough to have had their children go through our second grade, they know the tremendous preparation our students are given for receiving the Eucharist. But if we as parents do not model our faith, eventually our children will be more inclined to copy our actions than follow their second grade instruction. Today we celebrate our second graders receiving Holy Eucharist for the first time. May all of us set great examples while we form the children of our parish. A big thank-you goes to our second grade teachers, Miss Vallejos, Mrs. Snyder, and Mrs. C. Johnson. They do a tremendous job. Additional thanks to all the volunteers throughout the year who have helped make sacramental prep meaningful for our students.
Did you know that a plenary indulgence is being offered to Catholics during the Year of St. Paul? A plenary indulgence is a special gift offered by God through the Church to help us attain purity of heart and holiness of life. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, an indulgence is “the remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sin whose guilt has already been forgiven.” In honor of the Year of St. Paul, the Holy Father has offered a plenary indulgence to those who fulfill the following: 1) Make a visit (pilgrimage) to one of the parish churches established by Archbishop Pilarczyk as a pilgrimage site. St. Teresa of Avila (Price Hill) is the closest. 2) Sacramental Confession (within a week of the pilgrimage) 3) Reception of the Eucharist 4) Offer prayers for the Holy Father. |
HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP Learn how to be a prayer warrior in the army of Christ! Looking around at our nation and the needs of so many hurting people we can see the necessity for prayer. The Lord has given us a great resource in our battle against evil, the gift of intercession. “Prayer and fasting are the first and most effective weapons against the forces of evil” (John Paul II). Diane Autenrieb will speak about this remarkable gift on Tuesday evening -- a gift that unleashes the power of the Holy Spirit in our prayer life. In Chapel, Tuesday at 7:30PM
