Remember St. Antoninus in your will. + Like Nathan in today’s first reading, we sin when we begin to feel entitled to and act as if what we have is ours by right, or when we forget that everything we have is an unmerited gift from God. But God is gracious and forgiving — even when we use His gifts wrongly or squander them thoughtlessly — if, like Nathan, we confess our guilt and ask His pardon. +
come to your home! If you would like the Traveling Chalice for one week, please call Debbie at 922-2414.

The Year for Priests draws to a close on June 19. Recently, I was reading a quote from Pew Research cited by Rev. Edward P. Smith, president/rector of the Athenaeum of Ohio/Mt. St. Mary of the West Seminary and recorded in the March minutes of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council of which I am a member. According to the Pew Research, Fr. Smith said that the three questions parishioners most frequently ask of their priests are; 1) Do they love God?; 2) Do they love me?; 3) Can they do their job? These are questions I will ponder as I am in the Holy Land this week. But at least to the second I can say: YES!
THE OBERAMMERGAU PASSION PLAY: See the Pentecost Tours brochures in the greeting room. Should you call Pentecost Tours at (800)713-9800, please mention Fr. Armstrong's name.
MEASURING ENGAGEMENT 25: ME 21 "In the last six months, someone in my parish has talked to me about the progress of my spiritual life." Of the 545/625 parish respondents, 10% strongly agreed, 10 % agreed, 18% neither agreed nor disagreed, 25% strongly disagreed, 37% strongly disagreed. The parish mean average was 2.32/5; among all Catholics it was 2.42/5; among all denominations, it was 2.81/5. According to Growing An Engaged Church, this is the lowest percentage of the engagement items. The author asks: "1) How much feedback are members getting? 2) How can parishioners know how far they have come?" And I would ask: We hear confessions regularly; when was the last time you came to the sacrament and gauged your spiritual growth?
Were you married outside the Church? Those seeking a convalidation of the marriage or an annulment of their marriage should call Deacon Bob Schroeder at 922-4759 to set up a confidential appointment.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY To date the May 5th, Sunday contributions total is $818. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and needed for us to be faithful to our ministry.
St. Antoninus Parish is blessed with many benefactors and volunteers. One only need look at our lower parking lot this weekend to see the Athletic Club Summer Festival going on. It takes a tremendous amount of volunteers and generous donors to make a Festival successful! Our school, likewise, benefits a great deal because of its many benefactors and volunteers who provide it with opportunities we would not otherwise have. Our PTO, our Jog-a-thon, Magazine Sales, our Math Counts Competition, etc. would not happen without any number of volunteers providing assistance. Next year we will need another group of volunteers to take charge of such things as Math Counts Competition, the Jog-a-thon, the Eighth Grade Breakfast, and beautifying the grounds before First Communion Celebration. While school activities are taking a vacation for the summer, please prayerfully consider ways in which you might lend some help when we start again in the Fall. If you know someone who might enjoy being a volunteer in such things, consider giving him or her an invitation to participate. Sometimes all it takes is a simple invitation! |
SETON & ELDER HIGH SCHOOLS LUAU FOR 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS on Wednesday, June 30, from 7 to 10PM in Seton’s gym. All students must turn in permission slip at the door. Drop-off/pick-up in the Beech Avenue Parking Lot. See www.setoncincinnati.org or www.elderhs.org.
MATTHEW ROBBEN As my “official” internship has drawn to a close along with the academic school year, I would like to thank all the teachers, students, parents, and staff that have helped make this an amazing learning experience. At the final all-school Mass I spoke about how everything we do is a witness to Christ and His Gospel; even when we don’t realize it. Over the past year, St. Antoninus has witnessed to me what it means to be a faith-filled family seeking Christ in every aspect of life. Thank you for allowing me to be part of the family!
HOLY SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP One of the great gifts that we have received in our lifetime is the new Catechism of the Catholic Church. This extraordinary book defines our faith in a concise and easily readable format. In addition, it expresses the beauty, depth, and logic of our beliefs. The Scripture and the writings of the Saints are included and are cross-referenced for clarity and ease of reading. Ben Klaene will present an Overview of the Catechism of the Catholic Church on Tuesday evening. He will outline the structure of the Catechism, its sections and layout. If you can, bring your Catechism. If not, he will have a handout available for your use in the future. Join us, Tuesday evening in Chapel 7:30 PM.
